Prior to coming to the First Family, Pastor Rick was a bi-vocational children and youth pastor for 13 years at Central Baptist Church in Athens, Tenn., – his hometown. He also taught middle school math in a public school.
“Rick Blevins is not only a great partner in ministry, a tremendous people-person, and a visionary leader, he, his wife Karen, and their family have made major contributions in multiple areas of ministry-life at the First Family: music, sports, young adults, discipleship, evangelism, missions, and youth – as well as children,” says Rev. Mike Dawson, the church’s Pastor Emeritus. “I'm convinced one of the best things the Lord let me do in my years at First Baptist was help bring Rick Blevins onboard.”

One of the ministries Blevins oversees is our annual KIDS Campus – a week-long day camp filled with music, games, and Bible lessons. This year more than 300 children and leaders participated in the event which culminated with a special celebration presentation. (KIDS Campus photos >>)
“I am very thankful and blessed to be part of this ministry,” says Blevins. “Everything points to God. The First KIDS Ministry would have happened with or without me – this is not a one-man show. Each week between 30 and 50 significant adults and youth make this ministry happen. I just get to be the one who sees it from all the different angles.”
Pastor Rick is also active in our community. He has worked with the Columbia American Little League for the past six years – serving as a coach and a board member.
Pastor Rick and Karen have two children, Courtney and Cameron, and a granddaughter, Kaylee Mae.
