First Family Begins New Teaching Ministry

Our goal is to show how Jesus is ‘Life and Breath’ to us – we need Him desperately; our town needs Him desperately.

‘Life and Breath,’ the teaching ministry of Pastor Pete Tackett and First Baptist Church Columbia, is a new, weekly TV show that will share the truths found in the Bible in a relevant way.

The first series in the 60-minute broadcast poses and answers the question: How’s Your Serve? Pastor Tackett will share lessons from the book of Romans about how Christians have the privilege and responsibility to serve others.

“Christians get a bad wrap these days,” explains Pastor Tackett. “Honestly, much of it is deserved because we are not living the way the Bible instructs us to live. We are to be kind, caring, humble, and we are to serve others joyfully. In this first series of 'Life and Breath,' we’ll look at practical ways to live out our faith.”

'Life and Breath' will broadcast on Sundays at 6 p.m. and
on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. on Charter Channel 6 beginning
Sunday, May 11.

Pastor Tackett says he wants this new ministry to bring hope and encouragement to the people of Columbia. "Our goal is to show how Jesus is ‘Life and Breath’ to us – we need Him desperately; our town needs Him desperately," says Tackett. “‘Life and Breath’ is designed to encourage people to explore what it means to have a relationship with Christ."

However, watching these messages on TV isn’t meant to replace involvement in a local church Tackett explains. “We believe that everyone needs to be connected to a group of Christians for encouragement and accountability. We pray that individuals who get a chance to watch these studies will be compelled to get connected at the First Family or another Bible-believing church in the area.”

'Life and Breath' will broadcast on Sundays at 6 p.m. and on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. on Charter Channel 6 beginning Sunday, May 11. Upcoming series include: When Dollars Don’t Make Sense: Knowing What to Do With What You’ve Got; Real Life, Real Lessons: Stories of the Cross; and Who is Jesus?
