Join us for a day of inspiration and celebration as we focus on our 'dependence' on God. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Psalm 33:12
David French, guest speaker | 9:30 and 11 a.m.
David French, senior counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund and director of the ADF Center for Academic Freedom here in Columbia, will be our guest during both morning services. Since joining ADF in 2006 at the launch of its Center for Academic Freedom, French has led its efforts to restore the marketplace of ideas to university campuses, concentrating his litigation on religious freedom issues. He has litigated several high profile university cases, including challenges to speech codes and coerced indoctrination on
campus. Under French, CAF attorneys have won numerous ground-breaking victories in federal court, including significant victories over the California State University System, Temple University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He is also a captain in the United States Army Reserve. During 2007 and 2008, ADF supported French during his one-year tour in Iraq’s Diyala Province, where he served as the Squadron Judge Advocate for the 2d Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat operations at the conclusion of his tour. French returned from Iraq in late 2008 and resumed his active role as director of CAF.
Church Picnic | 5 p.m. at the pavilion
We'll have lots of food, fun (kids - the inflatables will be here again this year!), and fireworks at our annual picnic. Bring a side dish or two to go with BBQ and hotdogs (church provides) and a two-liter drink. We'll also have a homemade ice cream contest, so dust off your churn! (First Family member Jana White shares her award-winning recipes from the last two contests >>)
