During a worship service at the conclusion of the latest medical mission trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, representatives from the First Family signed a three-year partnership agreement with Parque Independencia First Baptist Church. The partnership officially begins Jan. 1, 2009, and ends Dec. 31, 2011.

The partnership agreement states the purpose is to "focus attention on a specific geographical area for an extended period of time to build relationships and strengthen the Gospel work of both Parque Independencia First Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, Columbia Tenn."

First Family agrees to send volunteers to assist with medical missions, leadership training, evangelism, and other areas to support the work of Parque Independencia. Parque Independencia agrees to provide the logistics for any missions work. Leaders from both churches are excited about the opportunities for spiritual growth of members and outreach to the community that this partnership will offer.
